What does cosmetic eyelid surgery consist of?
Cosmetic surgery of the eyelids, known as blepharoplastyeyelid lift is a surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the upper or lower eyelids, or both. It aims to restore harmony to the eyes. In the hands of an ophthalmologist, action is taken on the skin, if it is excessive and has lost its smoothness; the fat, if it has slipped out of its usual location and the muscle, if it has lost strength to maintain the opening of the eyelid.
What benefits could it bring to the patient?
Traditionally, it was considered a purely cosmetic surgery. But blepharoplasty surgery not only rejuvenates the eyes, it can also improve functional problems: widening the field of vision, making the sensation of heaviness disappear and alleviating discomfort associated with the constant effort of keeping the eyes open. Many people resort to this surgery to be able to pose in photographs with confidence, apply make-up without difficulty and feel at ease at social gatherings. A rejuvenated and rested look has a direct influence on self-esteem and daily well-being.
Is the postoperative period for this type of intervention complex?
One of the biggest concerns of patients is the recovery process. In general, the postoperative period for blepharoplasty is uncomplicated. General anaesthesia is not used during surgery, but a mild sedation allows the patient to experience the procedure in a painless and relaxed manner. After the procedure, it is normal to experience swelling and minor bruising, which tends to disappear within a few days. Thanks to today's advanced techniques, most patients are able to resume their daily activities within one to two weeks, following the doctor's instructions.

What is your personal approach to treating your patients?

After specialising in Ophthalmology, I decided to study for a master's degree in Aesthetic Medicine and rejuvenation. Combining both fields, I have developed a very precise vision of the anatomy of the eye.
