What is YAG Laser?
Nd-YAG lasers are among the most widely used laser devices, being applied in the ophthalmological treatment of capsular opacification after cataract surgery, or in the performance of iridotomy as a preventive or curative treatment of acute glaucoma.
It is a procedure that is generally used after cataract surgery with or without intraocular lens implantation. It is painless, safe and the results are usually immediate. However, as with any surgery, complications can occur, causing loss of vision, although they are very rare.
The YAG laser procedure for capsulotomy is painless as anaesthetic drops are applied which desensitise the cornea and the ocular surface, so that the ophthalmologist can apply the laser with practically no discomfort or discomfort.
