What is campimetry?

The Campimetry Visual perimetry, also known as visual perimetry, is a complementary ophthalmological examination that studies alterations in the visual field. Thanks to it, we can analyse and quantify the retina's sensitivity to different light stimuli that vary in intensity, size and location, and it is used in the diagnosis and evolutionary control of glaucoma and various retinal pathologies, as well as in the study of lesions of the optic pathway. In this last section it is very useful as its morphology has a localising value for the lesion.

Continuous campimetry allows the evolutionary control of the lesions studied to be established. Thus, campimetry is established as a functional test that complements morphological imaging tests such as CT or MRI. It is a non-invasive and quick study, where the patient only has to press a button when he/she perceives the stimulus offered by the perimeter.
