What is Argon Laser?
The Argon laser is perhaps the most widely used, emitting two different wavelengths, blue-green and monochromatic green, both of which are absorbed by melanin and haemoglobin.
Its action is thermal and photocoagulates the tissues on which it acts. It is used as a treatment for retinal pathologies such as: diabetic retinopathy, thrombosis, peripheral degeneration, DAME and glaucoma.
The Argon Laser is very necessary and useful in vitreous detachments, being used as a treatment for retinal pathologies; in incipient retinal detachments with a small peripheral tear or in diabetic retinopathies to avoid haemorrhages.
